Lansing, MI – A Lenawee County woman’s life changed in an instant when she won $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s 5X Cashword instant game.
“My mom and I play Lottery together and always like to see who wins the most,” said the 36-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I scratched this ticket off and took it to the store thinking I’d won $100.
“At the store, the clerk couldn’t cash it and told me I had to call. That seemed odd for $100, so I gave it a second look and that is when I realized I won $300,000!”
The player visited Lottery headquarters to claim her big prize. With her winnings, she plans to buy a new home, set up college funds for her children, and then save the remainder.
Players have won more than $20 million playing 5X Cashword, which launched in February. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $9 million in prizes remain, including two $300,000 top prizes, five $10,000 prizes, and 28 $2,000 prizes.
