Lenawee County, MI – There are two local opportunities to donate blood to honor the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks. The American Red Cross will hold a special blood drive at Ogden Church in Adrian on Friday, September 9th from 11am-5pm.
Make an appointment online at redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-redcross. All donors will receive a free Remembrance blood donor t-shirt, along with a gift card for a free haircut from Sports Clips.
Michigan International Speedway and Versiti Blood Center of Michigan announced the return of the Spirit of America Blood Drive at the track on Sept. 11. The blood drive was first held on Sept. 11, 2002 as a way for Michiganders to honor the victims of 9/11 and emergency responders who answered the call.
This year’s event will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the MIS Ally Champions Club located above the grandstands. Donors should enter through the Fan Plaza off Brooklyn Highway.
Appointments are preferred though walk-ups will be accepted. To schedule an appointment, call 866-642-5663 or visit Versiti online at https://www.versiti.org/events/9-11-blood-drive-mi. Donors should bring a valid photo identification with them, and plan approximately one hour for the entire process. As an appreciation, donors will receive an event t-shirt and meal after donating blood.
