ProMedica And Bonds: Which Bonds Are For What?

csc_0043

ProMedica and bonds have been a topic of interest in the community with the construction of the new hospital campus on M52.

At the September meeting of the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners, the group listened to representatives from ProMedica about their request for $50 million in new bonds for acquiring their own Hospice care facility, among other things such as refinancing current bonds.

These requested bonds are different than the ones approved in March of this year by the County Commissioners and the Lenawee County Hospital Finance Authority.

Five days after the County Commission met, the Hospital Finance Authority discussed the new bond request as well. They ultimately voted against giving tax exempt status for the new bond request. If the group were to approve it, a public hearing would be held, and then the County Commissioners would have the final say.

With this news, ProMedica has been in talks internally about ways to obtain the necessary funding.
