Head On Collision Involving Two Semi Tractor-Trailers Leads To Fatality

On Tuesday, at approximately 4:00 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Jackson Post  were dispatched to a crash involving two semi tractor-trailers, which occurred on M-49, just south of the Jonesville Road intersection.

Investigation showed a semi tractor-trailer driven by Michael Fink, a 74 year old from Jonesville, was southbound on M-49 when it lost control, crossed the center line, and collided head on with a northbound semi tractor-trailer driven by a 62 year old man from Litchfield. Michael Fink succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver was transported to Hillsdale Community Hospital where he was treated and released with minor injuries.

This investigation is ongoing. Troopers were assisted at the scene by deputies from the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office, Allen Township Fire Department, Reading Emergency Unit, Hudson Area Ambulance, Hillsdale County Road Commission, Michigan Department of Transportation, and local members of the community.
