The Dundee Police Department is reporting a fatal traffic crash that occurred on northbound US-23 at the M-50 overpass. A Ford Fusion operated by Crystal L. Irish, age 44, of Wakeman, Ohio was traveling northbound on US-23 when she drove off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck the guardrail and traveled back across both northbound lanes of travel. The Ford Fusion then struck the center barrier wall before traveling a short distance north and coming to rest.
Ms. Irish was transported by Huron Valley Ambulance Services to Mercy Hospital in Monroe where she died as a result of her injuries sustained in the crash. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and alcohol does not appear to be a factor. There were no other vehicles involved.
The crash is being investigated by the Dundee Police Department. They were assisted by members of the Dundee Volunteer Fire Department, HVA, Michigan State Police and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
