Adrian, MI – Tamaris Henagan has officially announced her candidacy for Lenawee County Probate Court Judge. On her official campaign website, this question was presented:
“So why probate, court you ask? Because those individuals who cross the threshold into our probate court are facing the same obstacles Tamaris has already overcome. Tamaris will be a fair, compassionate, ethical, and no-nonsense judge. Because if anyone knows what it takes to rise from the fire and become your best self, it is TAMARIS. No other candidate is more qualified for this job!”
Henagan was born and raised in Adrian. Due to her living situation after her sophomore year of high school, she would go on to pass the G.E.D test. Tamaris spent the first 15 years of adulthood raising her own family, later going back to school to earn her bachelor’s degree (Ohio Dominican University) and Juris Doctor in Law with a Certificate of Concentration in Criminal Law (University of Toledo College of Law).
Tamaris was the 1st African-American attorney to be sworn into the bar in Lenawee County, the 1st African-American City Attorney for the City of Adrian, and was honored to receive a public recognition from U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow for operating the 1st Black Owned Law Firm in Lenawee County.
Henagan is currently a member of the Adrian Public Schools Board of Education, and has volunteered with Catherine Cobb Shelter, Adrian Morning Rotary, and has operated a transitional living program in Adrian.
