DETROIT — Basketball player Antoine “The Judge” Joubert is sharing his stroke survival story during American Stroke Month to help raise awareness about prevention and warning signs.
Joubert, a former University of Michigan basketball standout and Detroit native, is hosting the free “Stride for Stroke Awareness” event May 30 at Detroit’s Considine Center.
The event will focus on stroke prevention, recovery, survivor testimonies, and community health resources. The American Heart Association is also promoting its updated “BE FAST” warning signs campaign, which includes sudden balance and vision problems in addition to facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, and the importance of calling 9-1-1 quickly.
Doctors say healthy lifestyle choices can reduce stroke risk.
