LANSING — Michigan health care advocates are urging lawmakers to fully fund Medicaid and offset new federal cuts they say threaten coverage for hundreds of thousands of residents.
The Protect MI Care coalition held a press conference in Lansing during Medicaid Awareness Month, warning that more than 2.5 million Michiganders rely on the program.
Supporters said Medicaid expansion helped drive the state uninsured rate down to a record low 5 percent in 2024.
The coalition is calling for stable state funding and protections against future federal reductions.
