BEDFORD TWP. — A Temperance man was killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Secor and St. Anthony roads in Bedford Township.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says 48-year-old Clayton Devol was riding an off-road motorcycle southbound on Secor Road around 9:18 p.m. when it collided with a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 68-year-old Arnold Meiring of Temperance, who was turning west onto St. Anthony Road.
Investigators say the motorcycle was not authorized for roadway use, had no lights, and Devol was not wearing a helmet.
The motorcycle caught fire after the crash. Devol died at the scene. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.
