PALMYRA TWP. — Palmyra Township officials are inviting the public to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Palmyra Township Fire Department station.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 11th at 2 p.m. at 6490 Palmyra Road.

Township leaders say the new station will replace the department’s current building, which was constructed in 1940 and no longer accommodates modern fire equipment and larger emergency vehicles. Officials cite limited space, a stop sign hindering emergency response, and no on-site water for refilling fire trucks as major operational challenges at the existing station.

The new 100 foot by 60 foot facility will feature four apparatus doors, restrooms, and decontamination showers. The department will utilize existing township office space for additional offices.

Township leaders say the project will be completed without requesting additional funding from residents.

Community members are encouraged to attend the groundbreaking ceremony in April to mark the start of construction on the new station.
