Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Dinner Featured Keynote Panel

Adrian, MI – Members of the Lenawee community gathered at the Adrian College Tobias Center on Monday to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The 37th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Dinner was marked by the presentation of several service awards to outstanding students and citizens and a keynote panel featuring Monique Savage, Dr. Robert Benard, and Apostle De’Angelo Boone.

Students who received MLK scholarships include Zoey Sierer of Jackson College, Quincy J. Johnson, Jr. of Siena Heights University, and Prince Thole of Adrian College.

Theodore and Kasey White became the first married couple to win the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award, for their work with the Lenawee NAACP and various committees, while local activist Idelí Feliciano won the Lifetime Achievement Award, though she did not attend the event due to illness.

Other highlights of the event include a proclamation honoring Dr. King from Adrian Mayor Angie Heath, and a performance from the Adrian College Women’s A Capella Ensemble.
