Adrian, MI – Adrian Public Schools have scheduled opening ceremonies for its improved baseball and softball complexes. With the support of the Adrian community and a fundraising campaign that started in 2021, the District has added stadium seating to both fields and a new and improved press box to the Softball field.

The District upgraded the playing surfaces of both fields over the last several years, and the new press box and stadium seating structure were built last summer using largely fundraised dollars.

Adrian’s Baseball field is currently named for its first Athletic Director, Cliff Nelson. At the opening ceremony, it will be re-dedicated as ‘Nelson Field’ to acknowledge and honor the contributions of Cliff and his sons, Doug and Dane.

When naming a facility, District Policy requires two months between the first reading of the board and final approval. The final approval will be on the agenda for the March 11th meeting. The public may give input at this meeting or by contacting Superintendent Nate Parker.

The District invites the community to attend the opening ceremonies on Saturday, April 6th, when the softball and baseball teams will host Gaylord, St. Mary’s, in a doubleheader. The baseball ceremony will start at 12:20pm…with the softball ceremony will occur immediately after at 12:50, followed by doubleheaders on both fields. The makeup date will be April 12th in case of adverse weather conditions.
