
Adrian, MI – The Adrian College football team earned their first win of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Bluffton University 23-15 at Homecoming.
The Bulldogs kicker Alec Milley got the scoring going early in the first quarter with a 19 yard field goal after the Beavers fumbled the ball on their first punt of the contest. The first touchdown of the game came later in the quarter, when Brett Allen recovered a blocked Bluffton punt and returned if for a touchdown.
Milley then made his second field goal of the game, giving the ‘Dawgs a 13-0 lead.
Bluffton got on the scoreboard with a deep pass over the middle for a 25-yard catch and score making it 13-7. The ensuing drive, on the first play Adrian quarterback Mark Lopez threw a deep ball to Ben Coloske over the middle for a 75-yard score. Adrian was leading 20-7 with 8:04 in the second quarter. Milley, with his third made field goal of the half came from 29 yards out making it 23-7 at the half.
The lone score in the second half was by the visiting Beavers, with a 34 yard catch and score pulling Bluffton within 23-15 after the two point conversation.
Offensively, Lopez was 10 of 17 with 225 yards and a touchdown. Salvatore Patierno rushed for 89 yards followed by Tejay Moore with 80. Coloske had five receptions totaling 138 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Gauge Ginop led the way with nine tackles. Right behind him was Ryker Bidwell and Randall Broome with seven apiece. Adrian was stout on the defensive side of the ball forcing four turnovers, two fumbles and intercepting Bluffton twice as well… both by Chaun Tolbert.
Adrian returns to action on Saturday, September 23rd on the road against Greenville University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1PM EST.
