Ohio State Highway Patrol Investigating Serious Injury Crash Near Toledo

Toledo, OH – The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle serious injury crash that occurred recently on U.S. 24 near the Anthony Wayne Trail underpass in Monclova Township.

The preliminary investigation showed a Chevrolet pick-up truck, operated by a 25-year-old Toledo man, was driving eastbound on U.S. 24 Tuesday afternoon… changed lanes, struck a Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer, operated by a 50-year-old Georgia man.

The Toledo man then lost control of his vehicle, drove off the left side of the roadway, and overturned before coming to rest in the westbound lanes of U.S. 24.

After the crash, the Freightliner pulled onto the shoulder and stopped. The 25-year-old was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by first responders.

He sustained serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center. The Georgia man was not injured. The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
