Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Truck After Fireworks Show Outside Monroe

Frenchtown Twp., MI – Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough is reporting a fatal truck versus pedestrian crash that occurred on State Park Drive in Frenchtown Township.

The crash was reported on July 3rd at 11:01 p.m. Preliminary investigation reveals that 35-year-old David Revels II, of Monroe, was walking on State Park Drive with another pedestrian, according to witnesses.

The lane, at the time, was being utilized to reduce traffic congestion from vehicles leaving the Sterling State Park fireworks display. State Park Drive was controlled by traffic control barricades and law enforcement officers.

While walking in the roadway, Revels was struck by a black 2014 Ford F-150 being operated by a 23-year old Monroe man who fled from the scene, according to witnesses.

Revels was transported to Corewell Health Hospital in Trenton, where he died from injuries suffered in the crash. The male operator of the Ford F-150 was later arrested and lodged in the Monroe County Jail pending formal charges.

The incident remains under investigation by members of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and Traffic Services Division.
