Monroe County, MI – A 27-year-old Dundee man died in a single vehicle crash on South Custer Road Wednesday afternoon.
Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough reported that the crash occurred at about 1:53 PM.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Shane Shobey was operating a 2018 Chevrolet Sonic westbound. While in motion, and for unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed the centerline and left the roadway. The vehicle continued to travel westbound withing the south side ditch over a culvert, which caused his vehicle to become airborne, crashing a second time before coming to rest.
At the time of the crash, Shobey was not wearing his safety belt.
Speed is not considered to be a factor in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on scene due to his injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
