Adrian, MI – Lenawee Christian School has announced that Tammy Powers has been selected to be the next Elementary Principal.

Since 2015, Mrs. Powers has been serving as a third grade teacher at LCS. Prior to that, Tammy was a stay-at-home mom for nine years and taught five years at Madison School District.

“For many years, I’ve observed a valuable set of leadership skills and gifts in Mrs. Powers,” shared Mr. Tom Durbin, Head of School. “She has been a consistent innovator in her classroom, finding beneficial ways to solve problems, navigate conflict, and present information so it is best suited to the needs of her students. While we will miss having her in the  classroom, we know her leadership will make a tremendous positive impact in our elementary school. She has a passion for Christian education and helping her students grow spiritually, academically, and emotionally. For that reason, we are elated to see her serving in such an important role in our school community.”

After her graduation from Lenawee Christian School in 1995, Tammy attended Spring Arbor University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She will complete her Masters in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University next year.

The idea of serving in school leadership began when she was a young child as her mother, Mrs. Judy Britsch, was a principal at Addison Elementary School. “I have always had a desire to serve in school administration, but I knew it would be beneficial for me to gain experience in the classroom setting first,” shared Mrs. Powers. “As principal, my goal is to empower, motivate, and encourage our teachers, students, and parents. I am excited to be used by God to help create an environment where we can grow in our appreciation of one another, view and study the world through the lens of scripture, and promote faith in Christ.”

Mrs. Powers will begin her new role as Elementary Principal on July 1st.
