Adrian, MI – The legal process continued Tuesday morning for a Lenawee County man charged with 5 felonies, including two Open Murder charges.

Christopher Carden is charged with the open murders of 67 year old Robert Braman and 82 year old Samuel Compton at a home on Frank Street in Adrian on January 15th. He is also facing firearms felonies, and home invasion charges.

It has been reported that Compton was recently released from jail after posting bond on a charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13… who is related to Carden.

It’s also been reported that it’s unknown if Braman is involved in the alleged sexual misconduct of Carden’s relative.

2A District Court Judge Laura J. Schaedler signed the order for the competency evaluation, per the request of the defense attorney, and with no objection from the prosecution.

After the results of the evaluation are submitted, a competency hearing will be scheduled.

If Carden is found to be competent to stand trial, a probable cause conference is scheduled for 9am on April 26th, 2021 in the courtroom of Judge Schaedler.
