WLEN News has more details on the crash between a passenger vehicle and an Adrian Public Schools bus that happened Friday afternoon. The crash happened near the intersection of Michigan and Division Streets in Adrian.

The Adrian City Police Officer on scene told WLEN News that the driver of the passenger vehicle turned southbound onto Division from Michigan, and then struck the bus, which was in the northbound lane approaching the intersection.

The lone occupant of the car refused treatment and transport at the scene, according to an Adrian City Firefighter. There were two people on the bus, delivering lunches for APS students, at the time of the crash. They were not injured.

Drugs or alcohol are not suspected as the cause of the crash, but the driver of the passenger vehicle was possibly distracted. They were also operating on a suspended license.

A report has been completed by the Adrian Police Department and was submitted to the Lenawee County Prosecutor’s Office for review. They will then decide if any further legal action will be taken on the driver of the passenger car. If they do decide to prosecute, it could be a few weeks before any court date is set.

The office could decide to pursue further legal action on both the crash and driving on the suspended license or just one of them.
