Tecumseh Public Schools to Hold Special Meeting for Superintendent Resignation

tps

Tecumseh Public Schools Interim Superintendent Ryan Rhoades submitted his resignation hours before the expected release of an investigative report into his conduct.

Mlive.com reports that he submitted a letter encouraging the Tecumseh community to petition Governor Gretchen Whitmer to ask the Michigan Department of Education to take control over the district, dissolve its board of education and replace its entire administration.

Rhoades was placed on paid, non-disciplinary leave March 26th pending the outcome of the independent investigation. The day before, he had been awarded a contract by the board during a meeting where five Tecumseh school administrators issued a ‘vote of no confidence,’ accusing him of creating a hostile work environment, harassing, intimidating and threatening staff.

The district currently is being led by Interim Superintendent Greg Lewis, who was appointed on May 13th, becoming TPS’ fifth superintendent in a period of five months since a new board of education took office in January.

A special meeting of the TPS Board of Education is scheduled for 7pm Friday.
