The local couple who hid from police during a week-long manhunt that ended with their arrests in Georgia are expected to be transported to Michigan in time for their arraignment in Romulus on Saturday.

28-year-old Brad Fields, and his girlfriend 24-year-old Candice Diaz, were arrested in Lowndes County Georgia about 4pm on Jan. 9th near the city of Lake Park. Four-year-old Gabby Barrett was found hanging onto life at her Rawsonville Woods mobile home- just 10 miles from the center of Milan on New year’s day.

Gabby had burns and bruises to her entire body. The Washtenaw County Medical Examiner called her death the worst child case in 27 years of practice. Diaz and Fields both have been charged with murder, child abuse, and torture. Barrett was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to a local hospital. Her death was quickly ruled a homicide by investigators.
