Local Memorial Day Events
Adrian:
American Legion Post 97 in Adrian Memorial Day Parade will be held Monday May 27th at 1pm starting in front of the Adrian Armory on W. Maumee St. and travel to Monument Park where the parade will end. If interested in participating in the parade contact Dave Loop at 517-260-1858.
Blissfield:
The Blissfield Memorial Day parade for Monday, May 27th will start at 11 AM in front of Schulz Holmes Memorial Library on South Lane Street. The parade will travel through downtown and stop at the bridge over the River Raisin for a short ceremony at 11:15am.
Britton:
The Memorial Day parade will be Monday, May 27th at 9 AM led by the Britton American Legion Post #155. A ceremony at Ridgeway Cemetery follows at 10 AM.
Brooklyn:
The American Legion Wilber-Bartlett Post 315 will conduct a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday May 27th in the Brooklyn Town Square at 10:00 am. The Honor Guard will march from Chicago Street at 10 am and position themselves in the Square at 10:10 am. There will be no parade.
Deerfield:
The Deerfield Memorial Day parade starts at 10 AM. Ages 1 to 12 are encouraged to decorate and ride their bikes in the parade! Line up is at the Shiver Shack at 9:45 am where bike decoration will be judged. Winners will be announced at the American Legion at the conclusion of the parade. Memorial Day services will follow.
Fairfield:
The Township Fire Department will be having a pancake breakfast from 7am-11am. Bicycle judging contest will be at 8:30 in front of the station. The parade will start at 9am.
Hudson:
The Hudson Memorial Day Parade will be Monday, May 27th with line up at the corner of Grove and Main Streets at 9am; the parade starts at 9:30am.
The Hudson American Legion will be hosting a Bar-B-Q Chicken Dinner, Monday, May 27th starting at noon.
Morenci:
On Memorial Day the Morenci American Legion will hold a prayer and a 21-gun salute at 10am at Wakefield Park, the parade will follow and travel east on Main Street then north onto M-156 ending at Oak Grove Cemetery. There will be a pause at Bean Creek for a placing of a wreath in the water as a tribute to those lost at sea. Afterwards Chicken Bar B-Q lunch will be held at the Morenci American Legion Post 368.
Onsted:
American Legion Post 550 will have a brief ceremony at 9 AM at Rome Center, then go to St. Michaels Church in Cambridge Junction for a ceremony at 930 AM. From there they will go to St. Joseph Shrine for a 10 AM ceremony, then return to Post 550 where another brief ceremony will be held. A parade will begin at Noon and travel Main Street to Slee Road, stopping for a ceremony and presentation at Maple Shade Cemetery.
Tecumseh:
Tecumseh’s parade begins at 10 AM at City Hall and ends at Brookside Cemetery where they will hold a memorial service.
Weston:
The Fairfield Township in the village of Weston will have a Firemen breakfast, beginning at 7 am.
RV judging will be at 8:00 AM, with bike decorating judging at 8:30 AM. The parade starts at 9:00 AM
Parade starts at 9:00am with a ceremony at the cemetery on the corner of Sand Creek Highway and Weston Road. Keynote speaker is Ted Aranda, a decorated Vietnam combat veteran.
