Brooklyn– Donna “Missy” Banting Fisher, 76, of Brooklyn, passed away on March 15, 2024 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson. She was born on July 13, 1947 in Detroit, the daughter of Crossan and Alice Jean (Banting) Hays. Missy graduated from Grosse Pointe High School with the Class of 1965 and later graduated from the University of Michigan in 1969 with a Bachelors degree in Education. While at the University of Michigan she belonged to the Delta Gamma sorority and made many life long friends there. Missy married Andrew E. Fisher II in Grosse Pointe in 1969 and he preceded her in death on November 10, 2014. After graduation, she taught in the Detroit Public School system and then taught for over 25 years at the Adrian Public Schools before retiring. She truly cared and loved the students that she mentored. Missy enjoyed going to lunch with many people throughout the years, especially at the Sunnyside Restaurant with her “lunch bunch” friends. Most of all, she loved being a grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Carey (Craig) Armstrong; siblings, Woody (Connie) Hays and Anita Hill; grandson, Nathan Armstrong; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. Missy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Curtis A. Fisher.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Larry Betz officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately after that, details will be announced at the graveside service.
