Thaddeus “Ted” Forgiel, age 96, of Deerfield, died peacefully at his home on December 25, 2024.
He was born in Detroit, MI, on May 17, 1928, the son of John and Catherine (Golemo) Forgiel.
Ted served in the U.S. Army 140th Tank Battalion in Korea. On November 7, 1953, Ted married Rose Laskos and they were married for 68 years.
Ted and Rose operated Ted’s Market in Detroit for thirty years after which they retired to Deerfield, MI. Ted enjoyed working with wood projects, fishing, gardening, farming and reading. He was a member of Light of Christ Parish in Deerfield, the American Legion Post #392 in Deerfield, and VFW Post #6896.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Barbara Forgiel-Farkas, loving daughter-in-law, Kathy Forgiel, grandsons, Jonathan (Lora) and Mark (Katelyn) Forgiel, and great grandchildren, Penelope, Trevor and Jack.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert, and son-in-law, Victor Farkas.
The Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Light of Christ Catholic Parish in Deerfield with Fr. Jeffrey Poll as celebrant. Visitation will take place at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel in Blissfield Wednesday, January 1, 2025, from 2-7 p.m., where there will be a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be held also at Light of Christ Parish one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
