Cynthia Ann Tarris, age 74, of Adrian, died early Saturday morning, December 28, 2024, at her home, while under the care of Elara Caring Hospice. Born January 21, 1950, in Canton, OH, she was the younger daughter of Harrison and Betty (Wyler) Kirkbride.
Cindy was raised in Canton, OH, where she graduated from high school in 1968. Pursuing a career in nursing, Cindy enrolled in classes at Adrian College. It was in Adrian where she met the love of her life, native Thomas Tarris. They married in her hometown of Canton on October 17, 1970. Together they raised two children and celebrated over 54 years of memories and companionship.
After earning her dream of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse at Aultman College in Canton, Cindy started her career working in various units within the former Bixby Medical Center. In 1987, after experiencing hospice prior to the loss of her daughter, Cindy felt inspired to become a part of Hospice of Lenawee, where she paid forward the compassionate care to hundreds of patients throughout her tenure. She later worked as part of the medical staff at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian until her retirement in 2012.
A devoted Christian, Cindy and Tom worshipped at Adrian First United Methodist Church. She loved crafting, especially ceramics, scrapbooking, and card-making to send joy to others during holidays. When her kids were young, she enjoyed camping trips, often in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula or in northern Indiana. A natural caregiver, Cindy was a lover of people, who loved to host social gatherings and loved to generously give to others in any way she could.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Tom, are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her children, Stephanie and Paul Tarris; and her sister, Karen Setty.
Cremation will take place and no public services are planned. Her remains will be interred in Ridgeway Cemetery at a later date.
