
Born May 9, 1920, in Deerfield, Michigan to Leo and Elizabeth (Tiede) Forche, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on December 16, 2024.
Lucille graduated from Blissfield High School in 1938 and attended the Riggs School of Beauty.
On August 5, 1944, Lucille was united in marriage to her lifelong sweetheart, Forrest Johns, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, while he was on a short leave from his service from the U.S. Army. Soon after the union, the two moved to Adrian, Michigan, where they spent many years raising a family and becoming a part of the community. Besides raising her four children, Lucille helped to manage Johns Automatic Vending for 15 years and worked for JC Penny in Adrian for 13 years.
After retirement, Forrest and Lucille wintered in Florida at the Betmar Acres in Zephyrhills for over 30 years. While there, they made many wonderful friends, enjoyed coffee hour, and played hundreds of rounds of golf. Lucille had an impressive golf career, including 2 holes in one and winning her league championship at the age of 93! She also loved playing cards, especially bridge, knitting, walking with friends, playing bingo, and watching the Detroit Tigers. Anyone who knew her also knows that she was a very lucky card and bingo player, often winning. Lucille loved to dance, her favorite song being The Tennessee Waltz while dancing with the love of her life.
Lucille’s faith ran very deep, and she would often be found peacefully reading her Bible or saying the Rosary. She attended and was active in the Rosary Alter Society and Legion of Mary at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Adrian. While in Florida, she attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zephyrhills. After moving to Tawas, she attended Holy Family Catholic Church.
Her daily prayer was, “Lord, I love You, I need you. Come into my heart and bless my family and my friends”. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, siblings Phillip Forche, Ruth McCarty, Carl Forche, Katherine Smith, and Betty Forche. She is survived by her four children, Richard (Linda) Johns, of Rochester Hills, Michigan; Robert (Roberta) Johns, of Vonore, Tennessee; Mark (Joy) Johns, of Lake Stevens, Washington; Susan (Steve) Fountain of East Tawas, Michigan, sister Lois (Norb) Iott of Petersburg, Michigan; and brother Leo Forche of Deerfield, Michigan. Lucille will also be greatly missed by her 10 Grandchildren: Josh Johns, Joe (Jamie) Johns, Micah (Christianna) Johns, Andrew (Lindsay) Johns, Kent (Amy) Johns, Erik (Christine) Johns, David (Kendra) Johns, Sara (Matt) Primm, John (Rachael) Fountain, and Jill (Tyler) McCoy. She had many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that will love and remember her always.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22 at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The funeral Liturgy will be offered Monday, December 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Adrian at 10:30 am, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian.
