Jane Mariouw passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at Lynwood Manor in Adrian Michigan, under the care of Careline Hospice. She died from uterine cancer at the age of 73.
Jane was born in Indonesia, moved to The Netherlands, and immigrated to the United States when she was 5 years old. She was raised in Ann Arbor and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan. Soon after she was happily employed as a graphic artist until delivering two children — Nicholas Gray Tidswell and Benjamin William Tidswell — and relocating to California. She moved back to Ann Arbor in 1986 and dedicated her life to caring for Nicholas at home until his death in 2012. Years later she moved to Adrian to be closer to her son and family.
Jane was a devoted mother, a cherished friend, and a kind-hearted soul who brought warmth to everyone around her. Her deep love for all living creatures was evident in the many cats and dogs that filled her home with joy and energy.
A gifted artist, Jane’s creativity knew no bounds. She spent her life expressing herself through her beautiful paintings, leaving behind a legacy of art that reflects her passion and unique perspective.
She will be remembered with love and celebrated for her vibrant spirit.
She is survived by her son Ben Tidswell (and partner Melissa Gillin and grandson Oliver Nicholas), brother Bill Mariouw (and nephews David, Scott, Ryan and families), ex-spouse Daniel Tidswell.
Cremation will take place, and a celebration of life will be planned in Ann Arbor in the spring. Contact her son Ben at 734.330.7888.
