Linda M. Sell, age 73, of Blissfield, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Hospice of Lenawee Home.
Linda was born on January 8, 1951, in Adrian, MI, the youngest of Stanley and Stella (Johns) Wegner’s four children. Growing up on the family farm, Linda had plenty of chores to do and took extra joy in caring for her horse. She was active in 4-H and was a dog and horse lover from an early age. Linda graduated from Blissfield High School with the Class of 1969.
It was during high school that Linda met her future husband, who also happened to be in the same grade as her at BHS. On June 12, 1971, Linda married her high school sweetheart, Vernon L. Sell, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Blissfield. During their 53 years together, Linda and Vern have raised two wonderful daughters, been active in their faith and cherished the role of grandparents.
Before starting their family, Linda worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Sylvania, OH. Once her daughters were born, Linda embraced being a homemaker and all the “extras” that came with being a mom. She was kept busy driving her girls to all their sporting and school activities and supporting them in all their adventures. After her daughters were older, Linda went to work in retail. Her keen sense of fashion made Linda a good fit when working at Sears, Elder-Beerman and Christopher Banks. Some of her hobbies included scrap booking and making beautiful cards for others. She liked to keep her mind active by playing solitaire and Sudoku daily. Linda enjoyed traveling throughout Michigan visiting various Lighthouses and out west to see family. For a number of years, Linda was a water aerobics instructor at the Lenawee Christian Family Centre and she treasured all the friendships made during this time. Linda lived her faith and was a long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian. She was active in the church choir and volunteered in the office for over 20 years.
In addition to her husband, Vern, Linda is survived by their daughters, Angela “Angie” Sell (Brett Francois) and Victoria “Vicki” (David) McPeak; her wonderful granddaughters, Cadence “Cady”, Charlotte “Charlee” and Cecilia “Cece” McPeak; and brothers, Fred (Darlene) Wegner and Tom (Anita) Wegner. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Wegner in infancy, and sisters-in-law, Nancy and Kathy.
Memorial visitation for Linda will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. Memorial services will take place on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Adrian, with Pastor Joel Sarrault officiating. Family will be receiving friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the service begins.
