
Warren Scott Rader III “Scott”, age 65, of Ypsilanti, formerly of Battle Creek, MI, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson, Michigan, surrounded by his loved ones, following an aneurysm he suffered on November 10, 2023. Scott was a resident of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and worked in Personnel Security at the VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor. He was born on August 11, 1959, in Charleston, South Carolina, to Warren Scott Rader Jr. (1936–2021) and Martha Redner Rader (1937–2001), their only child. Shortly after his birth, Scott’s family moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, where he attended all of his schooling culminating in graduation from Lakeview High School in 1977. He began his higher education at the University of Michigan before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, Scott developed a lifelong passion for information technology and problem-solving while being trained in data processing and computer programming. His exemplary service earned him numerous accolades, including an invitation to join the Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition, a Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge, a Rifle Expert Badge, a Good Conduct Medal, a Letter of Commendation, and a Certificate of Commendation. Following his military service, Scott attended Central Michigan University, where he discovered a second great love: the Zeta Rho Chapter of Sigma Chi fraternity. As an active member and leader, Scott encouraged academic excellence and personal growth among his peers. His contributions included scholarship chairman. He himself was recognized with the prestigious Sigma Chi Balfour Award multiple times, which recognizes the highest GPA in the fraternity. Scott graduated from CMU in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics. His professional journey began in the field of information technology, where he rose to play an integral role in managing many computer network systems throughout his career. His greatest highlight was managing the computer network team that oversaw all license testing for financial licensing of brokers in the US, a requirement demanded by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Wilbur-Bartlett American Legion Post 315, Brooklyn, MI at 12:30pm.
