
Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Board of Commissioners has proclaimed the month of November 2024 as Homeless Awareness Month in Lenawee County.
In their proclamation, which passed at their November 13th meeting, the Board noted that attainable housing is a complex and growing problem that affects people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life across Lenawee County and the nation.
The Board also recognized local organizations, like Lenawee Continuum of Care and Share the Warmth, who work to provide critical resources such as emergency shelters, transitional housing, counseling, and job placement services to those without stable housing.
Lenawee County residents were encouraged by the Board to participate in activities and events that promote homeless awareness, support housing solutions, and advocate for those who are in need of housing or at risk of experiencing housing instability throughout the month of November. “WHEREAS, attainable housing is a complex and growing problem that affects people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life across Lenawee County and the nation; and
WHEREAS, the experience of housing instability can have a lasting impact on individuals and families, affecting their health, education, and opportunities for economic stability, making it crucial to increase awareness and support for those in need; and
WHEREAS, Lenawee County is committed to addressing the housing vulnerable through collaborative efforts, support services, and preventive measures to assist those facing housing insecurity; and
WHEREAS, local organizations, including the Lenawee Continuum of Care, Share the Warmth, and other nonprofits, churches, volunteers, and advocates, work tirelessly to provide critical resources such as emergency shelters, transitional housing, counseling, and job placement services to those without stable housing; and
WHEREAS, these organizations continue to raise awareness about people without shelter in Lenawee County and beyond, promoting understanding, compassion, and community-driven solutions; and
WHEREAS, Homeless Awareness Month, observed throughout the month of November, provides an opportunity for all citizens to learn more about people without shelter, recognize the challenges individuals and families face, and take action by supporting local efforts to prevent and reduce housing insecurity; and
WHEREAS, Lenawee County residents are encouraged to participate in activities and events that promote awareness, support housing solutions, and advocate for those who are in need of housing or at risk of experiencing housing instability.
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED that the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners does hereby proclaim the month of November 2024 as Homeless Awareness Month in Lenawee County, encouraging all citizens to engage in efforts to address housing insecurity, offer support to those in need, and contribute to creating a community where all individuals have access to safe, stable, and attainable housing.”
