Adrian, MI – A natural gas leak occurred at the intersection of Charles and Maumee Street in Adrian. The leak started when a worker replacing the curb and gutter at the intersection cut too deep into the road, puncturing the gas line.
A representative from Citizens Gas Fuel Company told WLEN News that the leak was reported at around noon, and by one pm, the leaking gas had been contained.
This representative further stated that one building was voluntarily evacuated and that there were no injuries to either workers or citizens resulting from the leak.
Portions of Maumee and Charles Street were briefly closed to traffic while workers fixed the leak, but Citizens said they would reopen the roadway by early this afternoon.
