Ed was born on April 21,1950 in Adrian, MI and died on August 14, 2024, in Adrian, MI. His parents, Lawrence (Putt) Petee and Alice (Schulz) Petee raised him in Blissfield, MI where he graduated from high school in 1968. He received his associate degree from Northwestern Michigan College, Traverse City, MI, served in the US Army in Germany, and later graduated from Michigan State University.

Ed was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Blissfield (which he loved). While living in the Lansing area he developed a close connection with Martin Luther Chapel after participating in a mission trip to Juarez, Mexico.

During his adult life, Ed was a cherry picker, snowpacker in Aspen, cook, school photographer, village council member, nature lover, environmentalist, Lion’s Club member, Detroit Tiger fan, MSU Spartan fan, and special education teacher in Lansing, MI. More importantly, Ed was a caring son, an adored brother, and a wonderful friend. He was a man of few words but had a huge heart for helping others.

He is survived by his sisters Janet Beutler, Adrian, MI and Patricia Knoblauch, Ottawa Lake, MI, his niece Paula (Knoblauch) Frautschi (Andrew), two great-nieces, and his longtime friend Rebecca Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stillborn daughter Little Marie.
