Idalia T. Hernandez – Adrian

Idalia T. Hernandez, age 91, departed this life Sunday morning September 8, 2024. She was born October 10, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas. Idalia married her first and only love, Guadalupe A. Hernandez in 1949.

She was preceded in death by her husband; dear parents, her father Ezequiel, Sr. and her mother, Francisca (Rodriquez); and siblings, Jose (Manuel) Torres, Ezequiel ( Zeke) Torres, Jr. and Alicia Martinez.

As a homemaker, she raised six children, Angelita Linda Dennis (d Russell Dennis) of Stuart, Fl, Yolanda Mobley, of Adrian, Joel G. (Kristina) Hernandez of Kaleva, Mi, Julie Jungwirth of Florida, Daniel E. Hernandez of Port St. Lucie, Fl, and Louis J. of Adrian; Idalia is survived by her sisters Enedina Navarro, Virginia Martinez, Francisca Rodriquez, and her brother, Ernesto (Rosemary) Torres. She leaves 14 grandchildren, R.B. Dennis, Amy Madaski (Chris), Addie Kuney, Autumn Kuney, Zach, Jacob, Alex, Danny, Isabella, Jon Hernandez, Tiffany, Ashley, Joel Hernandez, Phoenix Hernandez; nine very much loved great-children; and nieces and nephews.

A devout Christian during her life, Idalia worshiped at the original Calvary Baptist Church on Lowe St. and Beecher St. as well as the Croswell Family Worship Center (Iglesia Bautista Christiana). The Berean Baptist Church was her home place of worship. She had a varied work history, including serving as a cook at Adrian Big Boy, as well as working at Acme Cannery and as a housekeeper. Idalia enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidery, crocheting and making afghan blankets. An avid reader, she was open to new ideas and trying new recipes. A great conversationalist, she lent her experience, empathy and love of our Lord when needed.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until a funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. After cemetery services the family will host a “Comida” at Redemption Outreach Center 704 Baldwin Hwy., Adrian.

Memorial donations are suggested to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
