Palmyra Twp., MI – A 76-year-old Tecumseh woman died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on US-223 at Humphrey Highway Wednesday afternoon.
The Michigan State Police Monroe Post said Thursday morning that the Troopers were dispatched to the crash at around 3:39pm. Preliminary on-scene investigation revealed that a silver Ford Focus was turning north on Humphrey Hwy, from US-223 Hwy, when it was struck by a maroon Ford Expedition, which was traveling westbound on US-223 Hwy.
The driver of the Ford Focus, an 82-year-old male from Tecumseh, along with his passenger, a 76-year-old female from Tecumseh, (husband and wife) sustained serious injuries and were transported to ProMedica Toledo hospital. The 76-year-old female passenger succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The driver of the Ford Expedition, a 58-year-old male from Palmyra, did not sustain any significant injuries and was treated on scene.
West US-223 Hwy. near Humphrey Hwy. was shut down for several hours while troopers conducted an on-scene investigation of the crash. Neither alcohol nor excessive speed appear to be factors in the crash.
Troopers were assisted on scene by the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department, Madison Twp Fire Department, the Palmyra Twp Fire Department, and MDOT. This incident remains under investigation by the MSP Monroe Post and anyone having information about the incident is asked to contact the Post at 734-242-3500.
