Janice Ann Harrington, age 87, of Adrian, Michigan died on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at her daughter’s home under the care of Hospice of Lenawee.
Janice was born on January 8, 1937, in Adrian, MI, the second of Allen H. and Ruth A. (Byer) Moore’s six children. She graduated from Adrian High School in 1955.
On September 21, 1957, Janice married Norman E. Harrington at Adrian First Baptist Church. They were blessed with 66 years together before his death on March 25, 2024.
Janice was very organized and great at multi-tasking. These traits were a necessity in her career where she was the office manager at Family Counseling and Children Services for many years. Janice took over the position of office manager when her mother retired.
Janice and Norm played in many couples’ golf leagues over the years, where she sometimes had the better score. She enjoyed traveling and when winter rolled around, they headed south to the Carolinas or Florida in search of a challenging golf course. Family was a priority for Janice, and she always had time for watching her grandchildren or caring for her mother later in life. You could count on Janice to attend all the big milestones in one’s life- graduations, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays. It did not matter where the celebration was taking place, Janice would make the trip and show her love and support. Her warm and caring personality was felt by all her family and friends.
Janice is survived by her children, Todd (Vivian) Harrington and Paula Loftin; grandchildren, Alicia, Joe David, Emily and Lauren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Joan and Gary. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman; and siblings, Joy, Judy and Greg.
Following Janice’s wishes, cremation will take place with a graveside service at a future date. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
