Adrian, MI – The Adrian Public Schools Board of Education is asking for public feedback on a recent recommendation to name the Superintendent’s Conference room for long-time Maple Del Cochran.
In the recommendation, Superintendent Nate Parker noted Cochran’s service to the district and his impact in his official roles and as a Maple Alum and supporter of both Adrian Public Schools and the Adrian Schools Education Foundation.
Del Cochran graduated from Adrian Public Schools in 1961. He retired from APS in 1999 after 32 years of service to the district. Cochran was elected trustee of the Adrian Public School’s Board of Education in 2002. He was hired as Superintendent in 2004 and served the district until 2008. He came back to the district in 2014, serving as Interim Superintendent.
District policy requires two months between the first reading and final approval when naming facilities. July’s board meeting was held on July 22nd, and final approval will be recommended at the September 23rd board meeting.
The district welcomes feedback from the community regarding this recommendation. Feedback can be provided by emailing APS Superintendent Nate Parker at nparker@adrian.k12.mi.us.
