Adrian, MI – Adrian native and longtime police officer, Jerry Redlin, passed away over the weekend. Soon after graduating from Adrian High School in 1960, “Rhino” married Joan Weatherman. They were together for 60 years and had four children.
Jerry became an Adrian City Police officer in 1965, and served the department for the next 32 years…reaching the rank of sergeant. He earned the “Rhino” nickname due to his tenacity for bringing difficult situations to a desirable end. He retired in 1997.
He served as a volunteer, which included service as a board member at the Hope Center in Adrian. He continued that service through another special needs organization called Wings when he and Joan moved to Colorado.
His involvement in church was marked by faithfulness and sacrifice, and his home church, Front Range Baptist, was truly a home with extended family. After many years of battling Parkinson’s disease, Jerry finally succumbed at the age of 81.
A home-going service will be held at noon Thursday at Front Range Baptist Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. The service can be livestreamed at: https://www.youtube.com/@FrontRangeBaptistChurch.
The internment will be at the Johnstown Cemetery on Monday, August 12th.
