Vehicle Pursuit in Monroe County

Monroe County, MI – Two Ohio suspects are in custody by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, who were involved in a fleeing and eluding in LaSalle Township on Sunday at 2:15 am.

Monroe County Central Dispatch received information that the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Washington Township Police Department were pursuing a stolen vehicle northbound on I-75 entering Monroe County. Ohio agencies pursued the car through Erie Township and into LaSalle Township. According to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough, officers were able to disable the vehicle by deploying stop sticks. The pursuit ended in the area of South Telegraph and Third Street in LaSalle Township.

Monroe County Sheriff Deputies took the driver, a 23 year old male and an 18 year old passenger into custody. During the pursuit, the passenger was observed throwing a gun out of the vehicle. The gun was located and collected as evidence.

Both suspects are lodged in the Monroe County Jail for fleeing and eluding, as well as receiving and concealing stolen property. Additional charges are being filed by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, pending extradition.
