Nelson J. Dean, Jr, age 86, of Blissfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Hospice of Lenawee. He was born on December 7, 1937, in River Rouge, Michigan to the late Nelson Sr. and Hazel (Perkins) Dean. On April 6, 1963, Nelson married Linda Mae Hagerty at the Black Horse Baptist Church in Black Horse, Ohio. They spent over 59 wonderful years together before her passing on June 9, 2022.
Nelson was a member of the Blissfield Baptist Church for many years. He and Linda enjoyed wintering with friends in Quartzsite, Arizona. He also enjoyed riding horses and participated in the Shore-to-Shore trail ride for a couple years. Nelson was a talented musician who loved playing the piano, guitar, violin, harmonica, accordion, and organ and he even wrote his own songs. Nelson’s special gift touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
To cherish his memory, Nelson leaves his children, Nelson III (Sandy Ferris) Dean of Casselbury, FL, Daniel Dean of Milan, Melinda (Scott) Schudel of Adrian, and Melissa (Scott) Lee of Brighton; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, William Dean of Stockton, CA; many beloved nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Buddy.
In addition to his wife and parents, Nelson was preceded in death by his sisters: Eleanor Anderson, Jean Brown, Leona Graves, Madeline Manning, Evelyn Dean, and Neosha Bancroft (his twin sister); and two brothers, Robert and John Dean.
