Williams County, OH – A 65-year-old Edon, Ohio man died in a Friday night lawn mower versus mini-van crash in Williams County. At around 10:15pm, troopers from the Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the crash on State Route 49 near mile post 9.
Troopers say that Thomas Patterson was operating a 2013 John Deere lawn mower southbound on State Route 49, without rear lights. A 79-year-old Edgerton man was operating a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country mini-van southbound on the same roadway.
The lawn mower was struck from behind, ejecting Patterson, killing him at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
