Sherri Talena Hunter, age 61 passed away on Monday, June 10th, 2024 in her home in Tecumseh, MI surrounded by her robust and loving family. She was born August 19th 1962 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of James Edward and Amanda Joyce (Mavity) Arnett. She was married to Gary Hunter May 25th 1991 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh, MI and they enjoyed 33 years together.
She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at both the former Herrick Hospital and Chelsea Hospital and was a proud, fun, comical, and spiritual woman deeply connected by her faith in God and immeasurably strong family ties. There was no one more invested in her family roots than Sherri, nor was there one more committed to the boldness and vivaciousness of a life well-lived. She was a lover of animals, cherished years living in the scenic country, loved sharing and watching funny videos and memes, kept up with her extended family as deeply and attentively as her immediate one, and enjoyed many wonderful, profoundly memorable trips, travels, and vacations. Ever a prankster, comedian, and presence of light and joy in the lives of those who knew her, Sherri could bring any room to her countenance with hefts of contagious laughter, cooking that moved the heart, warm kindness as thoughtful as a gift, and candid empathy that can only be described as genuine and true. She was a champion, a queen, and a beacon of wisdom which bespoke the experience of a seasoned and beautiful life.
Sherri is survived by her husband Gary Hunter, one daughter Teresa Rubley, her three sons, Brandon Holcomb of Tecumseh, MI, Vincent Hunter of Clinton, MI, and Robert Hunter of Wayne, MI. She is also survived by one sister Zena West of Westland, MI, and one brother, James Arnett of Tennessee. And lastly, she is survived by seven grandchildren Andrew, Kadin, and Chase Rubley, Righley and Madison Holcomb, and Gatlen and Haizley Hunter. She is preceded in passing beyond by her father James Arnett and her sister Marsha Reneé Henry.
Visitation for Sherri will be from 11 AM – 1 PM on Saturday June 22nd, 2024 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with the Chaplain Chris Lanham officiating. Burial will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens in Tecumseh, MI.
