Lenawee County, MI – Lenawee County Sheriff’s Detectives are seeking Open Murder charges on a 37-year-old man who has already been arrested and charged with two felony counts for allegedly assaulting an 81-year-old man…who died over the weekend, about a week after the incident.
At around 8am May 13th, Deputies responded to the 4000 block of Yankee Road for calls about an assault. Deputes determined that the victim, Jerry Fike, had been assaulted and was laying on the ground near his house while relatives tried to administer first aid.
He was unresponsive, but breathing, Sheriff Deputies and the Madison Township Fire department attended to Fike’s serious head injuries. He was transported to a Toledo area hospital in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies, assisted by Michigan State Police Trooper, were able to locate the suspect, Kevin Turski, walking on the road in the area of the residence.
Turski was detained and later arrested and charged with two Felony counts; Assault with intent to do Great Bodily harm less than Murder, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
Fike passed away on Sunday evening from his injuries. The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office says that the family knew Turski, but he was not welcome at the residence.
