
Jasper, MI – A Lenawee County woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on I-275 Freeway in Metro Detroit early Sunday morning. The Michigan State Police report that the crash happened on the north bound lane at around 3:20am near Ann Arbor Trail.
Preliminary investigation showed that the driver of a Ford Edge was traveling south on I-275 Fwy when they lost control of the vehicle. The driver crossed into the median and back up the embankment on the north bound side of the freeway.
The vehicle fell onto the north bound side and rolled over. The driver of a Buick LaCrosse was traveling north bound when it hit the rolled over vehicle.
The driver of the Ford, a 46-year-old female from Jasper, and the 21-year-old passenger from Canton were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Buick sustained minor injuries.
F/Lt Mike Shaw said in a social media post by the MSP Sunday morning that: “Currently it has not been determined why the driver left the roadway. Unfortunately, neither the driver nor the passenger who died in the crash were wearing their seatbelts.”
