Bus vs. Pedestrian Crash Kills Lenawee County Man Tuesday Morning

Tecumseh, MI – A 59-year-old Clinton Township man died after being struck by a school bus this morning. At approximately 6:52AM, Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Tecumseh Police Officers responded to a School Bus vs Pedestrian Crash on Allen Road between Macon Highway and Billmyer Highway.

According to Sheriff’s Deputies, a First Student bus from Tecumseh Schools was being driven eastbound on Allen Road east of Billmyer Highway. The Sheriff’s Office says that the pedestrian, a 59 year old male from Clinton Township, was standing in the middle of the roadway at the time of the crash.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash. The next of kin of the deceased has been notified. The eight students on the bus were transferred to another First Student bus and taken to school, no students were injured nor was the bus driver.

The Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene and the crash is under further investigation. The Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit was also called to the scene to assist the family of the deceased pedestrian. The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Tecumseh Police Department, Tecumseh Fire Department and the Michigan State Police.
