Onsted, MI – The Michigan One-Room Schoolhouse Association has announced that this year’s recipient of the Schoolhouse of the Year award is going to the ‘Wooden’ Old Stone School in Onsted.
It was built in 1850 on the same spot where a log school stood in 1837…and is one of the oldest in the State of Michigan.
The MIORSA will hold their Fall conference Saturday, September 30th from 9am-2:30pm at the Onsted Elementary School on Slee Road.
After lunch, the Wooden Old Stone School, located at 11992 Stephenson Road, will be open for a guided tour.
There is a registration fee for the event and lunch. For more information, go to miorsa.org.
