Adrian Human Relations Commission To Temporarily Cease All Activity

Adrian, MI – The Adrian City Commission voted to temporarily cease all activity of the Human Relations Commission until modifications to its authorizing ordinance are complete and in effect, and a full complement of members have been appointed.

The resolution states that the HRC is intended to have nine members, but due to high turnover on the board, there are only five current members.

The resolution also states that, given the vacancies currently and the fact that the role of the Human Relations Commission is intended to be revised, it would be counter-productive for the HRC to continue to meet during the pendency of the on-going ordinance revisions.

Earlier this summer, the Commission considered disbanding the HRC, but when it came forward for a vote…the motion ‘died on the floor’.

The timeline to fill the vacancies is unclear at this time.
