Congressman Walberg Calls on Senate to Vote on ‘Lower Energy Costs Act’

Tipton, MI – United States Congressman Tim Walberg has called for the Senate to vote on House Resolution 1…Lower Energy Costs Act.

Walberg pointed-out that Michigan’s average gas prices are up 37 cents per gallon over the past month. According to AAA, the average price is $3.92 per gallon for regular unleaded gas, up from $3.76 last week, which was previously the record high for 2023.

Provisions of the Lower Energy Costs Act include:

  • Reforming the permitting process to streamline federal reviews, including for essential energy infrastructure
  • Increasing domestic production and processing of resources
  • Eliminating restrictions on the import and export of oil and natural gas
  • Requiring the Department of the Interior to resume sales for the leasing of oil and gas resources on federal lands and water

Congressman Walberg serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and on the Subcommittee on Energy.
