Adrian, MI – The City of Adrian and an egg-processing facility on East Maumee Street are due back in Lenawee County District Court in July.
City Administrator Greg Elliott issued a public statement on the issues between the two entities, and addressed…what he calls… misinformation being circulated related to the situation.
Legal counsel for both Adrian and Crimson Holdings were in court back in 2022, attempting to resolve the issues of nuisance odors in front of Judge Laura Schaedler. Crimson argued that the court did not have jurisdiction on this matter.
A hearing scheduled for early May was adjourned. Elliott says that the City is discussing steps that Crimson might take to abate the nuisance that it is creating. He says that both sides met on May 16th, and anticipate further discussions.
Elliott says that they are not at liberty to disclose settlement discussions, and the City will not agree to any resolution that is not designed to result in the abatement of the current nuisance.
The hearing is scheduled for July 19th. WLEN News reached out to both the City of Adrian and Crimson Holdings shortly after the May hearing was removed from the docket, and did not receive a response until Wednesday’s statement by Elliott.
A source tells WLEN News that East Adrian Village Residents and supporters are being asked to protest operations at Crimson Holdings. They are gathering at Monument Park at 6:30pm tonight, and walking to the facility at 7pm…where they will protest for an hour.
