Jackson, MI – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be aware of another recent phone scam.

An unknown person is now calling Jackson County residents and stating that the call receiver has missed court or jury duty and if they don’t send money immediately they will be arrested by a member of the Sheriff’s Office.

They even provide a fake name and fake badge number to the call receiver ordering them to pay money, send gift cards, visa cards, etcetera.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says that this is a scam, and that no member of their office will ask for money, gift cards, or visa cards over the phone.

Tell the person you are calling 911 and hang up.
