
Adrian, MI – One person is dead from a reported drive-by shooting in Adrian Monday afternoon. Adrian Police Deputy Chief Laurence R. VanAlstine, III said that officers were dispatched to the intersection of Frank and Tecumseh Streets at 4:26 pm. They arrived to find broken glass and empty shell casings in the area.
Officers were then advised a shooting victim arrived at Hickman Hospital via privately-owned vehicle. The subject, who was determined to have been the victim of the reported shooting, died at the hospital.
Witnesses described an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles at the intersection, and provided descriptions of the vehicles to police. One vehicle was subsequently stopped in Adrian Township, and the other was located in Detroit.
The vehicle located in Detroit lead to a search warrant of a residence in the City of Detroit, during which evidence of the crime was recovered.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The names of any suspects will be released when developed, at the discretion of the investigating officers and Chief of Police.
Adrian Police were assisted by Adrian Township Police Department, Detroit Police Department, Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department, Madison Township Police Department, and the Michigan State Police.
